The verb "to be"

Modal Verbs: must, don't need to, not allowed to

Модальные глаголы показывают отношение говорящего к действию. Они ставятся перед основным глаголом. * must выражает сильную необходимость или обязанность. Например: «Вы должны это сделать». * don't need to (или needn't) означает отсутствие необходимости. Например: «Вам не нужно это делать». * are not allowed to (или mustn't) выражает запрет. Например: «Вам не разрешается это делать».

You don't need to have any prior knowledge. — Вам не нужно иметь никаких предварительных знаний.

You are not allowed to miss any lecture. — Вам не разрешается пропускать ни одну лекцию.
